NIGHT CITY - 2080

It’s the year 2080. Night City remains an independent metropolis where corporations compete for influence, gangs control territory, and residents build their lives between opportunity and violence.

Three years have passed since the assault on Arasaka Tower. Arasaka has rebuilt its local operations, Militech has expanded its contracts, and the city government has reorganized municipal services. The balance of power has shifted, but the city remains contested.

SINCE 2077

The assault on Arasaka Tower breached Mikoshi and ended with Adam Smasher’s death. V subsequently left Night City with Panam Palmer’s Aldecaldo group. Their eventual fate remains unknown.

During the following years, Arasaka worked to restore its influence, Militech expanded its NCPD supply agreements, and Trauma Team secured major medical contracts. Justice administration was consolidated under city government, and municipal legislation became available through a public phone application.

PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE

The assault on Arasaka Tower and the changes that followed are widely known. The details surrounding V, the Relic, and Mikoshi remain disputed, classified, or confined to rumors. Characters’ knowledge should reflect their background and what they learn through roleplay.

GOVERNMENT, JUSTICE & NCPD

Government of Night City
The Mayor and City Council govern the city, establish municipal laws, oversee public services, and negotiate contracts. Corporate interests retain substantial political influence.

Justice System
Justice falls under city government. Its internal structure and procedures are determined by the city administration. Current offenses, penalties, and legislation are listed in the government phone application.

NCPD
The Night City Police Department enforces city law, investigates crimes, and maintains public order. It operates through municipal policing agreements and corporate sponsorship, with its reach varying across neighborhoods.

CORPORATIONS & MEDICAL SERVICES

Arasaka
A major security, weapons, and private military corporation. Its Night City operations protect corporate assets, compete for contracts, and provide contracted perimeter security.

Militech
A major arms manufacturer and military contractor. It supplies NCPD procurement orders and civilian dealers alongside other weapons manufacturers.

Trauma Team
Night City’s leading medical provider, holding major municipal and corporate contracts for emergency response, treatment, and patient extraction. Municipal agreements cover basic civilian services, while private policies provide additional coverage.

Other corporations remain active in the background, including Night Corp in infrastructure and public works, and Petrochem in CHOOH2 fuel supply.

BORDERS & TRAVEL

Civilian departures are tightly restricted. Arasaka contractors patrol the city perimeter, while SoCal Border Patrol and Militech secure the southern crossing. Approved freight and essential travel continue under inspection.

External flights require authorization. Civilian sea departures are prohibited because of security restrictions and hazardous offshore minefields left from the Fourth Corporate War.

DOGTOWN & THE STREETS

Following Kurt Hansen’s death in 2077, Chester Bennett assumed leadership of Dogtown, with Jago Szabó retaining a role in its administration. BARGHEST continues to control the district outside effective municipal authority.

Elsewhere, gangs, fixers, mercenaries, and independent businesses shape everyday life. Territory, contracts, and personal connections determine who holds influence and who can challenge it.

TIMELINE

OutSync’s server lore follows The Star ending of Cyberpunk 2077, with Bennett succeeding Hansen as Dogtown’s leader and Jago surviving. Later developments form the server’s own continuation.

The calendar advances with real-world time: the month and day match reality, with the year 54 years ahead. In 2026, the story takes place in 2080; on January 1, 2027, it advances to 2081.

Future changes develop through roleplay.
